| Installation of double door units {French doors} will be very similar to a single door installation with the following changes. Since both doors hinge from either the right or left side of the opening respectively, there is no Lockside Z-Bar. instead, there is an Astragal which mounts over the inactive door {the door least used} WHICH MUST BE CUT AT THE TOP AND BOTTOM to line up with the lock and latch on the active door. Once the doors are hung and adjusted for alignment, then it is time to fasten in the threaded rods which connect to the brass mortise lever mechanisms that are in the edge of the inactive door. After the rods are in place It is necessary to mark the underside of the Header Z-Bar and the threshold of the opening to drill the receptacle holes to receive the rods. The expander will need to be drilled as well with a 3/8" drill bit to allow the threaded rod to travel up and down. Some adjustment may be needed to assure the proper throw of the threaded rods. Please note that double doors are supplied with only one closure for the active door and that door locks and knobs are available for the active door only {except those supplied with the Brass Slimline Lock where an optional dummy trim handle Is available for the B.S.L.} |
SIDELITE PANEL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS |
| 1. Find the fastener
package contained in your sidelite
panel carton. This
package should include: 15
#10 phillips head screws,
2 slotted healess vault pins,
5 #10 x 2" tamper resistant screws, and 6 #10
x 3/4" TEK
phillips head screws. Your new sidelite
is built to be set on top of 2 vault pins securing it at the bottom of the opening The top
of the panel is fastened
with the right angle
cam
lock allowing it to be unlocked and lifted
out of the
opening
for
easy cleaning. 2. Place the z-bar header into the top of the opening and fasten with 2 tamper-resistant 2" screws. 3. Measure the side z-bars and install them into the right and left sides of the opening using 5 #10 x 2" phillips head screws in each side. Make sure the actual width of the opening is 1/4" wider than the actual width of tho security sidelite panel allowing 1/8" clearance on both sides. 4. Install 2 vault pins (headless, slotted lag bolts) in the base of the sidelite opening (sill) where the panel wIll sit, 2" in from each side. Mark the bottom of the expander to match placement of the vault pins. Drill 2 holes (3/8) In the bottom of the expander so it will fit over the pins when it is installed on the sidelite. 5. Measure the overall helght of the sidelite from the underside of the header z-bar to the sill. Attach the expander to the sidelite panel using 2 #10 X 2" phillips head screws. When attaching expander, adjust it to where the overall height including the expander is 1/8" smaller than the overall height of the opening. 6. With a chisel or an electric drill, mortice out the area in the center of the opening behind the header to allow the right angle lock to be inserted. Set the panel on the pins, rock back into the openirlg and lock security.
ORDERING NOTE: WHEN ORDERING SECURITY SIDELITES IT IS IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND THAT THE SIDELITES ARE MOUNTED IN Z-BAR JUST AS A DOOR IS INSTALLED. THEIR MUST BE AT LEAST 1 1/8" SPACE ON EACH SIDE OF THE SIDELITE TO MOUNT THE Z-BAR TO. THIS IS SOME-TIMES A PROBLEM WHEN MOUNTING BOTH A DOOR AND A SIDELITE. BETWEEN THE DOOR AND SIDELITE YOU WILL NEED 2 1/4" TO MOUNT TWO FACES OF Z-BAR WHEN MOUNTING A DOOR NEXT TO A SIDELITE. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH SPACE PLEASE CALL A ACI SUPPLY CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE FOR ALTERNATIVES |
